Alexander finally took his first trip to the zoo today. Although it was a fairly nice day for July (overcast and low 80s), towards the end of the trip, our little half-Swede looked like he may melt (I noticed none of the other hundreds of children seemed to be so affected). At one point, he grabbed a water bottle from my hand and dumped it over his head.
We pointed out lots of animals (zebras, lions, giraffes, elephants, etc.) but he was most intriqued by those that he could see up close (the ground squirrels and the peacocks that roam throughout the zoo). He seemed to have the most fun grabbing the leaves on low-hanging trees and shrubs as we passed them. But overwhelmingly, his favorite thing of the day (and of course the one we neglected to take a photo of) was eating an ice cream cone! (apparently we could have saved ourselves about $50 and just taken him for a $2 cone and he would have been just as happy!)
